Somerset Village

Oil on Card, wood mounted, Feltham, 2002

84cm x 60cm

Somerset is the place where Guadalupe spent some time in the late 1990s, both in summer and winter time. It's a beautiful place, where everything smells of flowers, and he could appreciate the sounds of the dark night.

The round shapes are the chopped trees used for firewood, and the rings symbolise the tree rings by which you can read a tree's age.

Guadalupe adds, "My painting is a composition on the countryside, with big landscapes in abstract feeling. In this way, I communicate to myself how I recorded the memories onto paper, which make me believe in my emotional inspiration in this environment."
