On the Other Side

This is a follow-up painting to Sea and Sea, in the same style but much larger, and incorporating a contrasting orange light in the background.

This painting was inspired by a friend of Guadalupe, who asked if he could paint a variation of Sea and Sea, with the sunlight over the horizon, as a Christmas present for her sister. The result, Cristina's Sea, was taken to her home in Spain in December 2002. On the Other Side is painted in the same style, but is slightly smaller than its predecessor.

Guadalupe comments: "The sea is where we always think and can still understand the native power, with its strong character, playing with big, colourful waves, an infinite place. Once again, the red and blue sky, birds and mountains are the action of this composition, which bring happiness. I found this in my life when I saw the sea for the first time in Portugal. I was 19 years old and I could see my life in the colours of the white sands. I realised I could bring my art into this place in the same way that every wave brings new passengers to this land."
