Mexican New Culture Modernism

Oil on Canvas, Rochester, 2003

95cm x 84cm

In this geometrical painting, Guadalupe is trying to develop his own point of view as a Mexican artist living in another country, and so this is how he visualises Mexico in the 21st century, when young artists are coming forward and made their own contribution to film, music or popular lifestyle.

He says, "I believe that we are going somewhere with this fast life that we are living, in the way we want to exploit our planet and throw things away. This is a world composed of people consuming whatever is cheapest, where everything is mass produced with new technology. This is an examele of my point of view of Mexico, as a Native American country with its own indigenous style, matching this with the modern European mentality."
