Fashion in Prague Oil on Canvas, Rochester, 2003 110cm x 84cm
This was painted after having explored Prague, and a whole new range of tastes in the former Communist country, where they were still playing music from the 1980s. This is a message to its life's compositon, with geometrical symbols, such as those found in modern architecture and fashion. They have the opportunity to develop their own discovered world. The structure of this picture is taken from one of the museums in Prague, with a Le Corbusier-style designed interior, where Guadalupe felt inspired to change the views of Prague with his design studies. He comments, "I related my design to a new beginning, and this composition is trying to fight for its own freedom, like strong characters making themselves rich and powerful." It began with square shapes, and then in the middle is a distortion, which divides the middle half. This is symbolic of giving the opportunity to the next modern life, integrated into a European country. This is a new beginning for Prague, which will shine like the modern colours in the picture.
