Aztec Modern Land

Oil on Canvas, Rochester, 2003

88cm x 78cm

This is a symbol of ancient architecture, and how the old structures are in fashion with our lifestyle. The structure of the painting represents the power of the new modern architecture, and the way in which students research old civilizations for inspiration in their new projects.

The little holes symbolise the reflection of the stars on the top of the pyramid, and which is surrounded by plenty of strong colours, which indicate energies such as fire, earth, and a white sea with tall waves. In the top left, the middle represents the main entrance to the top of the pyramid, which is marked with black lines representing the steps.
