Blue Goat

Oil on Paper

After visiting Scotland in 2000 and various parts of the countryside, Guadalupe made some sketches of goats, inspired by their soft white skin, which looked to him like snow on its body. This led him to wonder what it would be like if the goat was blue instead of white, so it looks like it is covered in ice. He says: "I like blue for animals, and I paint them in this way because it's very unusual to see them in these colours."

Despite its icy look, this goat is very much alive, standing very heavily on three legs, almost as if it is about to run away.

Blue Goat was sold to a buyer in West London following the Feltham Exhibition in May 2002.
